Things We Do NOT Do To Save Money

I have shared ways to save money before on here. But, I thought I would go ahead and share with you things we do not do in order to save money. It’s easy to sit and point out changes but these are things that we have implemented and been following for quite some time.

  • We do not have a car payment: My husband and I love not having a car payment. I know some people will trade their car in for a new one as soon as it is paid off. To each their own, but my husband and I do not do that. We drive older vehicles that do not have a payment. Maybe that will change some day but for now we are team No Car Payment.

  • We do not go on shopping sprees: We do not go on shopping sprees. We also do not buy a lot of clothes and shoes. We certainly do not buy a new wardrobe for every season. I usually will buy a few new pieces of clothing once or twice a year at most.

  • We do not live in a big city: We live in a small town, so by nature it does not cost a lot geographically speaking to live where we live.

  • We do not drink alcohol: This was a lifestyle decision my husband and I both decided to follow but in turn it saves us so much money. Your wallet and your health will certainly thank you for not drinking alcohol.

  • We do not spend a lot on gas: My husband has a company vehicle for his job and because I stay home I do not drive all over town very often. I maybe go through a tank of fuel in a month if that. We don’t make unnecessary trips into town.

  • We do not take our cars to a mechanic shop: My husband is a mechanic so he does all of the maintenance and repairs on all of our vehicles. This saves a lot of money as our repair costs only include parts and we do not pay for labor since my husband does the work.

  • We do not have cable: When we moved into our first home we decided not to get cable. We use just a few streaming services instead. This works out super well for us.

  • We do not go on expensive dates: We do not go on expensive dates. We do however go on a vacation once a year so we save our money to do fun things together when we are on a trip.

  • We do not go out to eat a lot: We do not go out to eat a lot. I pack all of my husbands lunches for work as well. Which saves about $200 a month just by me packing his lunch.

  • We do not buy coffee out everyday: We make our coffee at home. We will get coffee out on vacations to try fun coffee shops. Otherwise we definitely prefer to make our coffee at home. This saves about $180 a month or more.

  • We do not buy processed snacks: We do not buy a bunch of processed foods to begin with we eat whole fruits, vegetables and meat. We do not buy a bunch of processed prepackaged snacks and those add up quickly.
